# Talking Avatar (/docs/help/talking-avatar)

## What you get

- A video of the avatar speaking, with lips synced to the speech.
- Subtitles in the spoken language, on unless you turn them off.
- A scene and an outfit that fit your message. Describe them yourself, or let Reela pick.
- A length from 15 seconds to 10 minutes.

## What you provide

- **An avatar.** Pick one to three. Use a public avatar, one of yours, or make your own on the spot.
- **The words.** A full script is read word for word, as long as it fits the length you pick; if it's longer, Reela shortens it. An idea, like "welcome new customers to our store", gets a script written for you.
- **Optional:** where the avatar is ("a bright modern office") and what they wear ("a beige knit sweater").

Talking Avatar doesn't need any files. The video stays on the avatar; for extra shots or graphics, use **Create**.

## Make a talking avatar video

1. Open **Talking Avatar** under Skills in the left rail.
2. Pick an avatar. Click **All** to see more, or **Create my own** to make one from a face and a voice.
3. Type what the avatar should say, or start from one of the suggestions.
4. Check the language and subtitles. Click them to change.
5. Look over the plan. It lists the avatar, scene, outfit, script, subtitles and language, and the estimated credits.
6. Click **Make [avatar name]'s video** to start. When the video is ready, it shows up in the conversation.

## Languages

In this skill, the avatar can speak English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German or French. For another language, make the video in **Create** and say which language. If you paste a script, pick the language it's written in.

## Change it after

The conversation stays open. Ask for what you want, like "try a warmer tone", "make it shorter" or "change the outfit", and Reela makes a new version.

## Tips

- Write the script to be spoken: short sentences, the way a presenter talks.
- Say the tone you want: friendly, serious, excited.
- If you have a time limit, say it: "keep it under 30 seconds."
- Credits depend on the length and the [video quality](/docs/help/video-quality) you pick. See [How credits work](/docs/help/credits).
