# Create a series (/docs/help/series)

## What a series holds

- **Episodes** — each one a script first, then a video.
- **Story** — the script of every episode, plus the setting of the story when your script has one.
- **Assets** — the characters, places and props that appear across episodes, and the characters' voices.
- **Series Videos** — the finished episodes.

See [Episodes, story and assets](/docs/help/series-episodes) for how to work with each one.

## Create a series

1. Open **Projects** in the left rail and click **New Series**.
2. Drop your script or story on the setup card as a .txt file (up to 2 MB), or describe the story in the message box instead.
3. Set **Episodes**: how many to make, up to 300.
4. Set **Each episode**: its length, up to 10 minutes. Each episode is charged for its actual length.
5. Pick the **Frame**: 9:16 (vertical) or 16:9 (wide).
6. Click **Create series**.

If you uploaded a script, Reela reads it and asks whether to **Follow it closely** or **Adapt freely**:

- **Follow it closely** — your script is the authority. Every line of dialogue stays as written, every major plot event happens in your order, and your episode breaks are kept. Shot sizes, camera notes and timecodes in your action lines are followed too. Reela never cuts your content to hit a length, so each episode runs as long as its script needs.
- **Adapt freely** — Reela keeps your premise, characters and key events and reshapes the story to fit the number and length of episodes you set: it can tighten, merge, reorder or rewrite.

Either way, you can ask Reela to adapt the story for another market or world: names, places, customs and details change to fit, and the plot holds.

## Scripts come first

Reela writes the first episodes' scripts and waits for you. Nothing is made until you review and approve a script. Then that episode goes into production.

## Settings the episodes share

Everything you set up applies to every episode, so the series stays consistent:

- **Frame and episode length** from the setup card.
- **Video quality.** Reela uses its default level. To change it, say so in the project's chat.
- **Look, language and captions.** Reela picks these from your script. Episodes can be in English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German or French. To change any of them, say so in the project's chat.
- **Cast, places and props.** They live in **Assets**, so a character looks and sounds the same in every episode.

If you change something partway through, tell Reela in the chat. Delivered episodes keep what they had. Reela tells you what a change affects before it re-makes anything.

## Find your series

Your series is listed in **Projects** and in the left rail. Its finished episodes are also in **Library**, in episode order.
